Demand Immediate Cognitive and Mental Health Evaluation for Senator John Cornyn


WHEREAS: Senator John Cornyn recently publicly stated that he did not remember locking arms with Joe Biden on anti-gun policy, despite him being widely credited with the effort and even having a page on his website celebrating the legislation.

WHEREAS: Senator John Cornyn has touted his pro-gun record, but took the following anti-gun votes:

  • FIX-NICS (2017): Cornyn’s bill expanded the federal gun ban registry by 90% — now over 33 million names — with more than 95% of NICS denials later found to be FALSE positives, wrongly denying Americans their rights.

  • At least 250,000 veterans are now prohibited from owning firearms with no due process because of faulty data.

  • Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (2022): Cornyn partnered with Democrat Chris Murphy to funnel $1.4 billion into national gun control, including $750 million for red flag laws — with $12 million going to Texas.

    • This law gave the ATF broad new powers, leading to rules that effectively ban private firearm sales, outlaw traditional gunsmithing, and force all transactions into the NICS registry.

     
  • Texas Exile Program: As Texas Attorney General, Cornyn pushed harsh federal crackdowns on gun owners. In 2018, he sponsored a national version costing taxpayers $150 million.

  • No Fly, No Buy: Cornyn backed secretive watchlist-based gun bans — again with no due process.

  • Cornyn voted to confirm Hillary Clinton and Merrick Garland, both long-time enemies of the Second Amendment.
 

THEREFORE, We the Undersigned Demand:

  1. That Senator Cornyn cease all support for federal gun control measures and work to repeal the laws he helped pass.

  2. That he publicly commit to opposing any expansion of the NICS registry, red flag laws, or due-process-free gun bans.

  3. That he be held politically accountable for past votes that violated his oath to uphold the Constitution.

We sign this petition to defend the Second Amendment and to remind every elected official: You work for the people -- and we will remember your record.

    • Enacted a vengeful ex gun ban without due process
    • Created federal Red Flag Gun Confiscation grants.
    • Laid the groundwork for many of the ATF's abuses of power.
     
 

Now he wants us to believe he just forgot...

But if Cornyn can't remember selling us out to Biden, he’s unfit to keep representing Texas in the U.S. Senate.
